WWF Richmond Kids' Mile (Saturday)

Welcome to the WWF Richmond Kids' Mile!

Date: Saturday 10th September 2022

Entry includes: Amazing medal, race number and timing chip.

Get ready for your kids to RUN WILD at Old Deer Park on Saturday 10th September, 2022! We are back with our Kid's Mile Races with two distances of 500 metres and 1 mile (check age groups below in the proposed timetable).

The Theme

To celebrate this partnership, WWF are encouraging all runners to ‘Wear it Wild’ on race day. Participants can embrace this theme simply by wearing an item of animal-related clothing, or heading to the start line in full fancy dress (face painting is optional!). All money raised through the WWF Kids’ Mile will be used to fund our conservation projects across the globe. Together we can save our one shared home.

Where?

The Kids' Mile races take place in Old Deer Park at the Richmond Fitness Expo and Finish Festival.

Location address: Old Deer Park (next to Pools on the Park Leisure Centre), Twickenham Road, Richmond, TW9 2SF. For Parking information and how the get to the Richmond Kids' Mile, click here.

2021 Kids Mile Timetable is below (this year's will be very similar and updated here soon)

The Festival

The festival is complete with live music, the Richmond Food & Fitness Expo and the London Pride bar (for the thirsty adults). We are delighted to have Brentford FC CST and Lions Sports Academy bringing a variety of multi-sport activities to entertain our kids throughout the afternoon.

Packet Pick Up

Race packs must be collected on the day at the Kids Registration, located in Old Deer Park. Packet pick up will be open from 1pm to collect your child's race number and timing chip.

The Start

The start and finish is located towards the back of Old Deer Park. Head to the large race arch 10 minutes before the race where Lions Sports Academy will be holding a fantastic and fun warm up for the kids.

The Course

The 1 mile course starts and finishes in the same place and forms 2 loops around Old Deer Park. The 500m race (for our Reception - Year 2) is only 1 loop. For the safety of our Kids, parents are NOT permitted inside the course. If you want to run with your child please keep outside the course parameter.

The Finish

Parents are NOT allowed in this area. Children will be handed back to parents at the end of the finishing shoot once their parent is identified. We ask parents to assist our staff by being patient during this time. No child will be permitted to leave the Safe Zone without their parent/guardian to collect them.

Training

Don't leave it until race day. Why not participate in some fun Kids training sessions. The Stragglers hold Junior and Mini Handicap series once a month. Click here for more info. There is also the Bushy Junior Parkrun with a monthly 2km time trial!

About WWF

WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) is one of the world’s largest independent conservation organisations, active in nearly 100 countries. Our supporters – more than five million of them – are helping us to restore nature and to tackle the main causes of nature’s decline, particularly the food system and climate change. We’re fighting to ensure a world with thriving habitats and species and to change hearts and minds so it becomes unacceptable to overuse our planet’s resources.

WWF. For your world.

For wildlife, for people, for nature.

The Skylarks Accessible Mile

We are really excited to partner with Skylarks to expand on our all-inclusive mile race for children with special needs in a friendly, non-competitive environment where every child is a winner and receives a finishers medal and prize at the end.

Skylarks is an independent Richmond upon Thames based charity that provides activities and therapies for children with disabilities and additional needs. They also support and provide therapies, courses and information for their whole families.
